DAVENPORT, IA – July 2019 –Gilda’s Club is hosting a FREE Kid’s Healthy Lifestyle workshop series in July that will introduce kids and teens who have been impacted by cancer to different healthy lifestyle activities at Gilda’s Club (1234 East River Drive, Davenport, IA).
Benefits include helping kids reduce stress, promoting healthy choices and behaviors, and helping to build a sense of community between kids impacted by cancer.
These workshops will occur during our regular “Noogie Nights” on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-8:00 pm and will consist of the healthy lifestyle activity and supervised play. A parent or guardian is required to be onsite and are invited to join our Wellness or Family Groups during this time.
Wednesday, July 10, 2019, 6:00-8:00 pm
Kids and teens will learn some basic yoga poses adapted to the chair while matching their movements to their breath. Chair yoga is great for yoga newbies and experienced yogis!
Wednesday, July 17, 2019, 6:00-8:00 pm
Participants will learn basic meditation and relaxation strategies. Participants will leave with some stress-busting tips.
Wednesday, July 24, 2019, 6:00-8:00 pm
Partnering with , participants will tell a story via creating a storybook. All stories will then be turned into a song by a musician. Learn more at https://singmeastory.org/.
Wednesday, July 31, 2019, 6:00-8:00 pm
Participants will work together to learn how to make a kid-friendly snack that is both healthy and tasty!
This four-week series is made possible by the Kiwanis Club of Geneseo.
Children and teens impacted by cancer are welcome to attend. Attendance at all four sessions is not required for participation in the series. Registration is required.
