DAVENPORT, IA – JANUARY 2019 – Gilda’s Club Quad Cities Board of Directors has recently elected Joel Moore to fill a vacant seat as their newest director. Moore was elected to serve a three-year term with the option for three additional two-year commitments. He will begin his duties on Friday, January 18, 2019.
Joel Moore, RN, BSN, MSN is currently the Manager of Genesis Cancer Services where he provides leadership and coordination of daily operations of the Genesis Cancer Care Institute, an American College of Surgeons accredited center. Moore has life and work experiences in education, nursing, hospice care and church ministry, bringing a unique perspective to the board.

Joy McMeekan, Executive Director of Gilda’s Club Quad Cities states, “Joel and the Genesis team have been long time supporters of Gilda’s Club Quad Cities by partnering with us on several programs, including support groups, educational programs, healthy lifestyle activities and quality of life studies. We are excited for Joel to bring his passion and expertise to Gilda’s Club Quad Cities Board of Directors to help us advance our programs and expand our outreach allowing us to reach more people in our community that have been impacted by cancer.”
Genesis Cancer Care Institute is a comprehensive team-based cancer center offering people on a cancer journey access to medical oncologists, the latest radiation technology, radiation oncology providers and support staff. The Genesis program offers the services, including national clinical trials, to make it possible for more people with cancer to remain close to home.
Joel states, “I believe in Gilda’s Club Quad Cities. I’ve known several community members who have benefited from the holistic approach and care offered by a highly competent, caring and professional team of experts at Gilda’s Club. The mission of Gilda’s- to empower and strengthen those who have been impacted by cancer- moves me into action. I’m proud to be a partner in the care that Gilda’s Club Quad Cities offers to our community.”
Moore received a BA in psychology in 1994 from Clarke College in Dubuque. He received an Associate of Science in Nursing in 1999 and a BSN from Western Governors University in 2017. He received a Master’s of Science in Nurse Leadership in 2018. He is certified in Nurse Manager Leadership through the American Organization of Nurse Executives. Recognitions include being named a Great Iowa Nurse (2006) and a Quad-City Leader Under 40 (2008).
